Our observation of in vivo imaging of CXCR4 expression in patients with both newly diagnosed as well as pre-treated carcinoma of the oral cavity, nasopharynx, and oropharynx confirms the presence of CXCR4 expression in HNSCC, which can be assessed non-invasively by PET/CT using the CXCR4-directed radiopharmaceutical [68Ga]Ga-Pentixafor. This evidence concerns the gene CXCR4 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
