THORLNC and prostate cancer: Due to its high prevalence in more than 45% of all cancer types screened (1352 human tumors, 9 of 11 tumor types), THOR hypermethylation has been suggested to be a frequent telomerase-activating mechanism in hTERT-expressing tumor types, e.g., in cancers of the prostate, breast, blood, colon, skin, bladder, and brain.
