Mdivi-1, a cell-permeable quinazolinone, is a selective pharmacological inhibitor of Drp-1, capable of inhibiting the fission process by directly decreasing the GTPase enzymatic activity of Drp-1, thus resulting in neuroprotection in models of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis [37,38]. This evidence concerns the gene DNM1L and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
