The CSF-1 receptor (CSF-1R) is expressed on the surfaces of monocytes and TAMs; it has been reported that treatment with the CSF-1R inhibitor PLX3397 (Pexidartinib) depletes TAMs in tumors, including in mouse models of breast cancer and malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors [21,22]. This evidence concerns the gene CSF1R and malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor.
