Notably, a range of “cancer driver genes” such as tumor protein p53 (TP53), alpha-thalassemia/mental retardation syndrome X-linked (ATRX), H3 histone family member 3A (H3F3A), and zinc finger homeobox 3 (ZFHX3), among others, have been identified as critical to the onset and advancement of the disease [29,30]. The gene discussed is ATRX; the disease is alpha thalassemia-X-linked intellectual disability syndrome.
