G6PD and malaria: With a growing body of evidence on the safety of the administration of SLD-PQ in recent years, there have been indications that SLD-PQ is well tolerated in G6PDd patients [22].Several randomized and controlled clinical trials on the safety and efficacy of ACT versus SLD-PQ have been conducted in South Africa [21], Tanzania [23, 24], Senegal [6], Swaziland [25], Burkina Faso [26], and Uganda [27], supporting the use of the WHO-recommended SLD-PQ without G6PD testing during the preelimination and elimination phases of malaria.
