ITGA5 and Parkinson disease: When CasRX-Itga5 mice were compared to GFP control mice, the number of action potentials increased but the amplitude and frequency of sEPSC decreased showed in Figure 2J-2K. Our results imply that Itga5 controls the maturation of postsynaptic structures for functional synaptic transmission, which may be the source of MPTP-induced synaptic dysfunction, corresponding with the phenotype observed in MPTP-induced mice models of PD.
