When comparing TF cells originating from glaucoma patients with those from normal patients, we found that glaucomatous TF cells showed upregulation of genes associated with a myofibroblast cell type such as ACTA2 (α-SMA), ZEB1, ZEB2, SNAI1 (SNAIL) and SNAI2 (SLUG) suggesting fibroblast to myofibroblast transdifferentiation. The gene discussed is TF; the disease is glaucoma.
