Our study has demonstrated that NLRP1 protein is slightly expressed in normal breast tissue, while its level was significantly upregulated in MCF-7 cells, as indicated by Wei et al. Surprisingly, the overexpression of NLRP1 was much more pronounced in MDA-MB-231 cells than in MCF-7 cells (Fig. 3b), suggesting that NLRP1 may be a potential therapeutic target in the treatment of triple-negative breast cancer as well as ER ( +) breast cancer. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP1 and breast cancer.
