Notably, considering that other tumor types such as prostate cancer, pancreatic carcinoma, breast cancer, and mesothelioma may harbor DNA defects (Golan et al., 2019; Abida et al., 2020; Chopra et al., 2020), the application of BRCA1/RAD51 foci assays could be enlarged to a wider population of oncological patients, providing cost-effective predictive tools to better tailor patients’ therapy. This evidence concerns the gene RAD51 and breast carcinoma.
