EZR and prostate cancer: Ma et al. (2020) demonstrated that baicalein inhibits the proliferation of prostate cancer cells and induces apoptosis by down-regulating the expression level of Ezrin. Baicalein has been found to inhibits the activity of 12-lipoxygenase (12-LOX), which consequently blocks the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in prostate cancer cells, thereby effectively inhibits tumor angiogenesis (Nie et al., 2006).
