Ma et al. (2023) indicated that inhibition ofthe expression of a significant marker of CSCs, i.e., CD44, may be a new therapy tosuppress ccRCC progression. Oct4, a stem cell transcription factor, and itsoverexpression was closely related to the progression of several malignancies, including ovarian cancer (Xie et al., 2022),prostate cancer (Yasumizu et al., 2020), andrenal cancer (Zhang et al., 2023).Overexpression of SOX2 is associated with cancer development, poor prognosis, andchemoresistance in several types of cancers (Mirzaeiet al., 2022). This evidence concerns the gene CD44 and nonpapillary renal cell carcinoma.
