Hypoadiponectinaemia is an independent risk factor for the development of endocrinopathic laminitis (Knowles et al., 2023; Menzies‐Gow et al., 2017; Wray et al., 2013) and adiponectin concentrations are weakly positively associated with obesity in some equine studies (Barnabe et al., 2024) but negatively correlated in others (Kearns et al., 2006; Wooldridge et al., 2012). This evidence concerns the gene ADIPOQ and obesity disorder.
