To treat glaucoma, curcumin-loaded nanoparticles in combination with latanoprost, a drug to increase uveoscleral outflow, were delivered using a thermosensitive chitosan-gelatin-based hydrogel, and showed reduced levels of inflammation-related genes (TNF, IL-1α, IL-6 and MMP-13), apoptosis, and ROS expression (84). The gene discussed is MMP13; the disease is glaucoma.
