Rather TGFβ2 appears to be predominantly involved in TGFβ induced POAG (11, 98) since numerous studies have now shown that sustained activation of ROCK by either TGFβ, CTGF or lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in TM cells in culture or in vivo contributes significantly to creating the fibrogenic properties of the TM associated with POAG (11, 56, 57, 90, 91, 99–101). This evidence concerns the gene CCN2 and open-angle glaucoma.
