A separate study of 15 SNPs of 15 loci (CDC-TGRFB3, TMCO1, AFAP1, FOXC1, GMDS, CAV1/CAV2, chromosome 8q22, CDKN2B-AS1, ABCA1, ARHGEF12, ATXN2, SIX6, PMM2, GAS7, TXNRD2) previously associated with POAG in European and Asian populations revealed no significant associations with Tanzanian, South African, or African American POAG samples (10). This evidence concerns the gene TXNRD2 and open-angle glaucoma.
