A separate study of 15 SNPs of 15 loci (CDC-TGRFB3, TMCO1, AFAP1, FOXC1, GMDS, CAV1/CAV2, chromosome 8q22, CDKN2B-AS1, ABCA1, ARHGEF12, ATXN2, SIX6, PMM2, GAS7, TXNRD2) previously associated with POAG in European and Asian populations revealed no significant associations with Tanzanian, South African, or African American POAG samples (10). The gene discussed is CAV2; the disease is open-angle glaucoma.
