GPT and coinfection: At 12 h, polymicrobial infection with WT S. aureus led to significant increases in 3 common liver enzymes (alkaline phosphatase, ALP (Fig. 1a); alanine transaminase, ALT (Fig. 1b); aspartate aminotransferase, AST (Fig. 1c)) and in the kidney biomarker blood urea nitrogen (BUN) (Fig. 1d) as compared to co-infection with the hla::bursa strain.
