Current studies suggest that the combined pathological mechanisms of anxiety and depression in CHD are linked to inflammatory factors, neurotransmitters, the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, endocrine markers, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) (4, 5), where the inflammatory response is a critical component of the combined anxiety and depressive disorder episodes in coronary artery disease (6). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is coronary artery disorder.
