ALB and Sepsis: Compared to normal albumin, hypoalbuminemia was independently associated with a significantly greater likelihood of experiencing any complications (OR 3.26, 95% CI 2.04–5.19; P < 0.001), sepsis (OR 9.92, 95% CI 1.29–76.35; P = 0.028), blood transfusions (OR 2.89, 95% CI 1.20–6.93; P = 0.017), non-home discharge (OR 2.88, 95% CI 1.55–5.35; P < 0.001), readmission (OR 3.46, 95% CI 1.57–7.58; P = 0.002), and LOS > 2 days (OR 3.00, 95% CI 1.85–4.86; P < 0.001) (Table 3).
