Multiplex immunofluorescence staining of the surgically resected tumor showed a locally dense accumulation of layers of wound stroma dominated by CD163+/CD206+ M2-like Mφ adjacent to the biopsy cavity, while M2-like Mφ were much more sparsely distributed in the peripheral tumor stroma (Fig. 1a, Supplementary Fig. 1).
