A study using the HCC zebrafish model suggested that G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER1) could be a factor in the progress of hepatocarcinogenesis by inducing proliferation of hepatocytes and regulating organ growth via GPER1-PI3K-mTOR signaling transduction (Wojnarowski et al., 2022). Here, GPER1 is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
