To explore the regulatory impact of liver-TEs on HNF4A expression, we utilized CRISPR/Cas9 technology to concurrently remove each cluster of TEs, situated either upstream or downstream of the P1-driven HNF4A TSS, referred to as HNF4A-liver-TEs, in liver cancer cells (Supplementary Fig. 1f). The gene discussed is HNF4A; the disease is liver cancer.
