Considering the extensively documented muscle-related adverse effects associated with both HMGCR and PCSK9 inhibitors based on previous observational studies and our MR findings, we proposed that the NPC1L1 inhibitors, such as ezetimibe, could potentially serve as relatively viable alternative lipid-lowering drugs for individuals with sarcopenia or those at an elevated risk. The gene discussed is HMGCR; the disease is sarcopenia.
