RBPMS and diabetes mellitus: Proteins that were more abundant in islets from donors with diabetes included those crucial for cell adhesion: tight junction protein ZO-2 (TJP2), integrin alpha-2/beta-1 (ITGA2), Golgi function arylsulfatase L (ARSL), transmembrane Bcl-associated X-protein (BAX) inhibitor motif containing 1 (TMBIM1), transcriptional proteins such as TLE family member 3 (TLE3), helicase with zinc finger domain 2 (HELZ2) and RNA-binding protein with multiple splicing (RBPMS), and proteins involved in cytoskeletal reorganization like myristoylated alanine-rich C-kinase (MARCKS)-related protein (MARCKSK1).
