KEAP1 and diabetic retinopathy: We then explored in silico the activity of axitinib as Keap1 covalent ligand (Pittalà et al., 2017), and as putative melanocortin receptor ligand, known to be involved in regulation of angiogenesis and oxidative stress (Maisto et al., 2017; 2019; Gesualdo et al., 2021) in in vitro and in vivo models of diabetic retinopathy.
