DJ-1 is a exquisitely conserved protein, exhibiting a molecular weight of 20 kilodaltons, and it belongs to the protein superfamily known as DJ-1/ThiJ/Pfp I. Amplified expression of DJ-1 has been documented in numerous cancers, including breast cancer (Scumaci et al., 2020), melanoma (Lee et al., 2021), PC (Kawate et al., 2015), astrocytoma (Haapasalo et al., 2018) and endometrial cancer (Benati et al., 2018).
