The immunohistochemical assay showed that the WNT5A expression was evident in approximately 77.6% of gastric cancer tissues, and WNT5A-positive gastric cancer patients showed a higher infiltration of late tumor cells and more lymph node metastases than patients who did not express WNT5A. These differences might be related to the epithelial-mesenchymal transformation(EMT) of gastric cancer cells induced by WNT5A. Notably, the five-year survival rate was lower for WNT5A-positive patients in WNT5A-negative patients (26). Here, WNT5A is linked to neoplasm.
