Controversially, the inhibition of miR-143/145 in western diet-fed LDLR KO mice (Ldlr−/−-miR-143/145−/−) has been shown to reduce atherosclerosis progression through switching from a contractile/non-proliferative state to a migratory/proliferative SMC state and hepatic ABCA1 expression (34). This evidence concerns the gene LDLR and atherosclerosis.
