BRAF and squamous cell carcinoma: Thyroglossal duct carcinoma generally has a favorable prognosis, except in cases where the patient tests positive for the BRAF V600E mutation.[34] The recurrence rate after complete resection of the lesion is <5%.[35] Among all types of thyroglossal duct carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma carries the worst prognosis.[36] The presence of significant clinical symptoms at the time of diagnosis may indicate a good prognosis and a lower likelihood of recurrence.[37]
