DHCR24 and cardiac arrhythmia: It was shown recently that the licensed drug amiodarone, a multichannel blocker for the treatment of cardiac dysrhythmias (Kodama et al. 1997), is also capable of lowering cholesterol biosynthesis in human cell lines by direct inhibition of the 24-dehydrocholesterol reductase (DHCR24) (Allen et al. 2020; Simonen et al. 2020).
