Compared with mice receiving vehicle, mice given putrescine presented significantly lower levels of fecal Lcn-2, a sensitive marker of inflammation in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (vehicle: 23 × 104 vs. putrescine: 8 × 104 AUC; Fig. 3B; ref. 29) through the three DSS cycles. This evidence concerns the gene LCN2 and inflammatory bowel disease.
