LCN2 and colorectal cancer: In addition, patients with colorectal cancer had a higher abundance of Enterobacteriaceae compared with healthy controls as determined by CFU counts (controls: 47 ± 20 vs. colorectal cancer: 104 ± 37 CFUs, P < 0.028; Fig. 6E), and fecal Lcn-2 levels positively correlated with Enterobacteriaceae abundance (Fig. 6F).
