TLR4 and tuberculosis: Assays have been produced for point-of-care testing (41), and TLR4-stimulated cytokine levels have been stimulated in whole blood for a shorter time (4 h) (42) suggesting that cytokine assays could be produced as a point-of-care test with minimum handling and short turn-around time, which is required to have clinical relevance in a high-TB incidence rate low-resource setting.
