To identify whether RvE1 improves the metabolic homeostasis against obesity via inducing the biogenesis of beige fat, RvE1 injected i.p. into WT mice or Ucp1−/− mice was found to alleviate the growth of body weight (Fig. 4a) during the HFD feeding despite maintaining comparable levels of food intake (Fig. S5a), which was dependent on UCP1. The gene discussed is UCP1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
