Accordingly, the downregulation of SR proteins, in particular SRSF1, SRSF3, and SRSF7, by HIV-1 infection-induced interferon responses can drastically alter the gene expression dynamics, especially for the transcripts of the 2 kb class that rely on NXF1-mediated mRNA export and thus SR protein availability.
