Paclitaxel's anti-cancer effects are hypothesized to occur by promoting chromosome mis-segregation on multipolar spindles leading to apoptosis, necrosis and cyclic-GMP-AMP Synthase-Stimulator of Interferon Genes (cGAS-STING) pathway activation in daughter cells, leading to secretion of type I interferon (IFN) and immunogenic cell death.
