MCP-1 is highly expressed in the kidney and in the vasculature in hypertension [215], which elevates the recruitment levels of CCR2+ monocytes to the area [216], and the depletion of MCP-1, CCR2, and/or monocytes decreases myeloid cell infiltration into the renal and vascular systems or the chronic hypertensive response to AngII [216,217,218]. The gene discussed is CCR2; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
