In colorectal cancer, the low expression of SPTLC1 leads to worse prognosis [42]; in renal cell carcinoma, it inhibits cell proliferation [43], and in lymphoma patients, a mutation of SPTLC1 increases enzymatic activity, thereby sensitizing BCR-ABL tumors to imatinib [44]. This evidence concerns the gene SPTLC1 and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
