Additionally, 13 of the 36 significant age-associated DE mRNAs are involved in pathways related to p53 (STRAP [59], PPM1A [60], and UNG [61]), insulin (CHN2 [61] and PGK1 [62]), Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease (SNX12 [63], FRMD4A [64, 65], and SLC18A2 [66]), and neurodevelopment (DST [67], CIC [68], KCNQ5 [69], THOC2 [69], and ITSN1 [70]) (Fig. 5c). This evidence concerns the gene FRMD4A and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
