Regarding the effects of ACEi on the different variants of ACE polymorphism rs4340, in the Genetics of Hypertension‐Associated Treatment (GenHAT) Study, Arnett et al. (2005) hypothesized that after 6 months of antihypertensive treatment, the blood pressure lowering response of hypertensive patients carrying the ACE D/D genotype versus those bearing ACE I/D or I/I genotypes, would be superior in lisinopril (an ACEi)‐treated patients compared with an aggregated group of patients treated with other antihypertensive drugs (chlorthalidone, amlodipine, or doxazosin). The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
