DKD patients were mostly older, male, and had higher levels of RDW, RA, UA, fasting glucose, HbA1c, creatinine, and higher instances of CHD and stroke, but lower level of eGFR, albumin, as compared with those without DKD (p < 0.05) both in the NHANES and the WMU cohorts (Tables 1 and 2). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is diabetic kidney disease.
