NNMT and neuroblastoma: Liu et al. [130] reported that the overexpression of NNMT significantly enhanced the expression of SIRT1-3 in the human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y, which lacks endogenous NNMT expression, and that the silencing of SIRT3 using siRNA in NNMT-expressing SH-SY5Y cells resulted in a reduction in the complex I activity to levels similar to those in wild-type SH-SY5Y cells, as well as in a significant decrease in the cellular ATP content.
