Early PPROM has been previously associated with increased rates of neonatal morbidity (Goya et al., 2013; Yu et al., 2015; Pinto et al., 2019) and mortality (Goya et al., 2013; González-Mesa et al., 2021; Yu et al., 2015), thus women at risk for this subset of sPTB represent a target population for the development of predictive and preventive clinical tools.
