FGFR1 and ischemic stroke: Moreover, endothelium-targeted deletion of the miR-15a/16-1 cluster mitigated the disruption and dysfunction of the blood-brain barrier, promoted postischemic angiogenesis, and improved long-term recovery of sensorimotor and cognitive functions in ischemic stroke by targeting claudin 5, vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), and fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) genes (16, 17).
