Two extensive studies by Derosa et al. (10, 11) revealed substantially reduced levels of serum of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2, and MMP-9 in patients with dyslipidemia after 6 months of EPA + DHA intake at 2.6 g/day compared with placebo. Here, MMP9 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
