Although previous research attributed the anti-melanoma activity of azelaic acid to the inhibition of thioredoxin reductase activity and DNA synthesis in melanoma cells, its mechanism of action is still ambiguous23–25, for this reason, a molecular docking study was conducted to understand the anti-melanoma mechanism of action of azelaic acid along with the other isolated metabolites via evaluation of their potential binding against a set of enzymes related to melanoma to discern which of them may be targeted by the metabolites. Here, PRDX5 is linked to melanoma.
