Our patient was found to have activation of the MET proto-oncogene by exon 14 skipping, which has a median frequency of 2.4% in NSCLC (adenocarcinoma) and historically has been associated with poor prognosis.4 While MET exon 14 skipping has been seen in other cancer types, including gastric, colorectal, and CNS, only in NSCLC has the efficacy of MET TKIs been well established. The gene discussed is MET; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
