While the clinical chemistry data from the NIEHS studies (Auerbach et al., 2023a; Auerbach et al., 2023b; Auerbach et al., 2023c; Auerbach et al., 2023d), corresponding to the transcriptomics data analyzed here, showed an increase in ALT and AST levels (Supplementary Material S1, Supplementary Table S3), which provides indirect evidence of liver injury, a histological analysis would be required to confirm the steatosis outcome.
