To determine if T2DM-derived PMVs were increasing the expression of key mesenchymal genes, we analysed the relative expression of TWIST, SNAIL, and VIM (vimentin) via reverse-transcriptase quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) in TNBC cells co-incubated with T2DM-derived PMVs, PMVs isolated from healthy controls or TGFβ, which served as a positive control for the induction of mesenchymal gene expression. The gene discussed is VIM; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
