Furthermore, recent clinical evidence has identified AD-specific phosphoepitopes of tau Janelidze et al. (2020); Palmqvist et al. (2020); Thijssen et al. (2020), suggesting that amyloid comorbidity in AD may influence the ways in which tau is posttranslationally modified, which in turn leads to distinct patterns of neurodegeneration relative to primary tauopathies. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and amyloidosis.
