Sodium–glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2Is) are a group of antidiabetic and heart failure drugs that target the SGLT2 protein and have been shown to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes who are at a high cardiovascular risk of heart failure and prevent or reduce kidney function failure [5,6,7,8]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and heart failure.
